Art Basel is only a mere week away. Last year the fair attracted 73,000 visitors to the Miami Beach Convention Center and this year’s 14th edition looks to be even bigger and better, with 267 galleries from 32 countries exhibiting from December 3rd to the 6th. SCOPE returns to South Beach from December 2 to 6 (VIPs get in on the 1st) with 120 exhibitors from 22 countries, plus several special sections including Juxtapoz Presents, the Breeder Program for new galleries and FEATURE, showcasing photography. For a fourth year, the fair collabs with VH1 on a music series featuring up-and-coming artists. There’s also an invite-only party with recording artists Mack Wilds and Lil’ Dicky on Friday night at Nikki Beach, sponsored by SCOPE, VH1 and BMI.
The creators of Miami’s famed III Points festival have arranged for a solid Art Basel concert series with performances by Jamie xx and Four Tet at Mana Wynwood Friday night. Casa BACARDI in Wyndwood has gone all-out with a group art show curated by Swizz Beatz from December 2 to 5, featuring artists including Shepard Fairey, SWOON, Todd James, Dustin Yellin and more. They’ve also got a series of music events featuring performances from Alicia Keys, Pusha T, A-Trak, DMX and Wiz Khalifa, among others.
PULSE Miami Beach returns to Indian Beach Park, 4601 Collins Avenue, with new dates, from Tuesday, December 1 to Saturday, December 5, 2015. PULSE Miami Beach welcomes galleries from three continents, with over 85% presenting three artists or fewer. Over a quarter of the fair is comprised of first-time exhibitors and nearly half participated in last year’s Miami edition.
The design team of George Yabu & Glenn Pushelberg return to the BASEMENT nightclub inside the Miami Beach EDITION Hotel with London’s Horse Meat Disco crew and special guest Giorgio Moroder on Thursday, December 3rd.
Libertine, one of the newest lounges in downtown Miami’s 24-hour party district, hosts the Night Show Thursday, December 3rd featuring Houston’s own Post Malone and special DJ set by Mannie Fresh of Hot Boyz/Big Tymerz fame. Libertine is also the spot for the release party for Nakid Magazine’s latest issue and their cover artist Jen Stark on Friday night, December 4th. Stark recently collab’ed with Miley Cyrus on MTV’s VMA Awards and has a new installation at Miami International Airport.
