A couple of years ago, when thinking of Rio de Janeiro, luxury would not have been the next thought. However, after winning the bid for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics, many forward-thinking Cariocas saw the need for high-end services and have since rushed to fill the void. Once in a lifetime experiences, restaurants, and places to stay – we’re here to break down the can’t-pass-up adventures to complete your luxury vacation in Rio.
- Charter A Boat -
Beaches are one of the main draws of this gorgeous city and it would almost be a shame not to experience the sights from the water. Gather friends and family and create a completely customizable experience by chartering your own boat. Explore the nearby Cagarras Islands or take a spin around Guanabara Bay and Botafogo beach to see a unique view of some Rio’s most famous landmarks. Xperiencerio can help you create an unforgettable day on the water.
- Exclusive Pool Party -
Like great Brasilian food? Love a cold Caipirinha? We thought so. We recommend booking in with “Cocktails with Bossa Nova“, an exclusive pool party in the former home of Elis Regina, one Brasil’s most famous singers. While relaxing by the pool you can enjoy hors d’oeuvres by chef Maria Antonia Bocayuva and sip on cocktails creations made by a top-notch mixologist. What’s more, this stunning Rio villa with a vintage-Brasilian vibe will truly put your luxury vacation in Rio over-the-top.
- Parisian-Brasilian Fusion -
If you visit Rio de Janeiro and don’t dine in a 1920′s French mansion with views of the ocean – you’re doing it wrong. Casa de Arte e Cultura Julieta de Serpa was built at the turn of the century by renowned French architects as a gift for a prominent merchant’s wife. After she passed away in 1989, it has since been turned into a cultural center and, lucky for us, an incredible Parisian-Brasilian fusion restaurant. Although the main courses all shine, be sure to save room for the desserts created by the in-house pâtissier.
- Sushi & Style with Sushi Leblon -
You might not realize it, but sushi and Japanese culture in general is big in this eclectic city and should be part of any luxury vacation in Rio. If you want to rub elbows with the well-dressed and celebrity crowd while enjoying your sashimi, Sushi Leblon is the place. Definitely make a reservation, no matter the night of the week. Everything is excellent but the standouts include the tuna tartar with green apple and foie gras or the salmon sashimi.
- Where to Stay in Rio de Janeiro -
The luxury neighborhood of Joa is slightly outside of the more famous areas of Rio such as Ipanema and Copacabana. However, if you’re looking for a true unique vacation in Rio de Janeirio, this area is the perfect choice. The exclusivity, privacy and safety of Joa are just three of the many reasons why many famous Brasilians call this neighborhood home. Perhaps the best perk of staying in Joa is the semi-private beach. Although Ipanema and Copacabana are more well-known, there’s nothing like sharing a stunning Brasilian beach with just a few locals.
- Casa Joatinga -
This five-bedroom mansion will be sure to exceed any of your expectations of a luxury vacation in Rio. Beautiful contemporary design accents attempt to steal the show but ultimately the incredible view wins out. And what better place to enjoy it then from the infinity pool?
- Le Magnifique -
Possibly one of the finest properties in our portfolio, this sprawling five bedroom home features unparalleled views of the ocean and coastline. There is ample outdoor space to enjoy the view, pool and an impressive jacuzzi. (yes, that picture is just the jacuzzi!) From the master ensuite that you could live in to the sprawling home theater, this smart house is completely controlled from the convenience of an iPad. In short – the epitome of what a luxury vacation in Rio should be.Brazil, Insider guide to Rio de Janeiro, Neighborhood Guide to Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro Events
